You are invited to a Death Cafe at Mourning Dove Studio
Death Cafe is based on the ideas of Bernard Crettaz, a Swiss sociologist who set up the Cafes Mortels. Jon Underwood read about the first Cafe Mortel to take place in Paris and began holding them in London in 2011. The first Death Cafe in the US was held in 2012 by Lizzy Miles, and there have been almost 400 Death Cafes in 9 countries.
The Death Cafe model says "Our view is that when it comes to death, people have enough to discuss already" - so there are no specific topics, set questions, or guest speakers. The objective of Death Cafe is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'. Death Cafes are not bereavement support groups or grief counseling.
Please RSVP by calling me, Ruth, at 781-290-7356.
